3rd Test: South Africa v England at Johannesburg
|
8.30am UK time start South Africa (possible) 1 Dean Elgar, 2 Quinton de Kock (wk), 3 Hashim Amla, 4 AB de Villiers (capt), 5 Faf du Plessis, 6 Temba Bavuma, 7 JP Duminy, 8 Chris Morris, 9 Kagiso Rabada, 10 Hardus Viljoen, 11 Morne Morkel
Alex Hales was suffering from a throat infection on the eve of the Test and a decision on his participation would be taken on the morning of the game. If he is forced to sit out, it is likely that Nick Compton would open with Gary Ballance returning to side although the No. 3 berth could go to James Taylor.
England 1 Alastair Cook (capt), 2 Alex Hales, 3 Nick Compton, 4 Joe Root, 5 James Taylor, 6 Ben Stokes, 7 Jonny Bairstow (wk), 8 Moeen Ali, 9 Stuart Broad, 10 James Anderson, 11 Steven Finn

apart from Rashid that bowling attack is a bit hit and miss. they should have opened with Laughlin and Neser rather than plodders like Putland & Holland

I reckon I could have got a ton against that bowling!
Tomorrow's game should be tighter.

They have Kane Richardson as well I think Unlucky for them he was pulled out to take 5 wickets v India in the ODI
Joel Paris has been released back to the Scorchers tomorrow and presume Behrendorf is also fit . Melb Stars looking at a 5th straight semi final loss

Done well to get this far Adelaide, as their bowlers are pretty shit other than Rashid and Laughlin.

The reality of the Gulam Bodi situation is that it was the Proteas players who turned him in... and most of the 'fixing' appears to have been 'spot-fixing' of the no-balls; wides etc rather than a whole team being in on it... or most of a team.
I think it's quite clear that the SA team are going to be poor for the next 5 years or so - there really isn't anyone to replace those already in the team.

Ha ha I saw Nathan Lyon bat in a t20 game last week. Took a big swing and was out first ball. So much for the New Bradman who NZ couldn't get out for two hours.

And what about the English umpire ignoring hot spot and gifting Australia a test and series win against NZ?

Of course a S African player has been charged with match fixing last week with several others suspected ...... and a few days later SA are out for less than 100. And AB deVilliers seems in despair at the situation of his Test team. RIDDLED with corruption and at the mercy of the wealthy English???

Most of those were the MISERABLE World Cup failures weren't they? No wonder they tried some others Presume Overton wasn't risked given he couldn't be trusted against an Asian team.
Anyway, it was a great recovery by Australia.

Didn't England win a one day series in the UAE without:
Anderson, Broad, Finn, Wood, Stokes, Jordan, Plunkett or Footitt?
A.k.a. the England Test attack and first replacements.
Not to mention no Overton x 2, Brooks or Harris.

It's ALL money-making at the moment.
We have another T20 against Pakistan on Friday, then 3 ODI's, then 3 ODI's against you, before two tests.
So, our warmup for the T20 WC in March is to play T20's in January, and ODI's and test matches in February.
Makes sense.
Fuck T20, by the way.
Our warmup for t

Really quite astonishing. Australia are treating these games as money making necessities and not using Starc, Hazlewood, Pattinson, Cummins , Behrendorf, Coulter-Nile or even Bird and Sayers who have been named in the NZ Test party. And still took 9 wickets for 46 on a nice flat one day pitch.
To be honest these games are fairly meaningless and winning or losing 5-0 would be irrelevant. The only driving factor is seeing how much this annoys Kohli.

So, India collapse from an dead cert position to lose. Pakistan beat NZ in the first T20 on Friday, then lose the second by 10 wickets on Sunday. Sri Lankans been tainted with match-fixing etc.
Good old sub-continent eh?

Half of the ATP's Top 100 would have been proud of that collapse.
Wonder what that cost Cricket Australia?

India are just getting ridiculous now
277/1 with 13 overs to make 71 and they are all out for 323 chasing Australia's 348/8 in the 4th ODI in Canberra. Australia now lead the 5 match series 4-0 and have won their last 18 ODI's on home soil.
